Season's Greetings from OBJECT!

2011 has been a busy and successful year for OBJECT. Some highlights include:

  • Launching the STOP.PRESS.PORN campaign to tackle Page 3;
  • Submitting evidence to the Leveson Inquiry regarding the sexual objectification of women in the UK press (watch this space!);
  • Launching The Living Project with feminist service provider Trust to provide support for women who have exited the lap dancing industry;
  • Supporting local campaign groups and councils to stem the proliferation of lap dancing clubs;
  • Publication of the book Stripped: The Bare Reality of Lap Dancing - an anthology of women's experiences in lap dancing;
  • Publication of a chapter in the book The Big Porn Inc. on challenging the sex and porn industries;
  • Successfully campaigning for major supermarkets and petrol stations to cover up lads' mags and put them on thte top shelf;
  • Presenting at various conferences including an international anti-porn event in Boston, USA;
  • Joint-organising the hugely successful Challenging Porn Culture conference
  • Raising awareness and funds at the annual Women's 5K fun run;
  • Co-launching the Eff Off Hef campaign against the Playboy Club re-opening in London;
  • And organising and taking part in protests outside the international porn summit X-Biz, and the retro-sexist Miss World Final

As ever, we could not have done all of this without you.

We have come a long way, but there remains much to be done.

With councils adopting the new legislation on lap dancing, risks of an increase in commercial sexual exploitation during the Olympics, Government interest in taclking 'sexualisation', the Leveson Inquiry and an historic opportunity to take action against Page 3, we need your continued help and support to take on the challenges, and to capitalise on the opportunities that 2012 will bring.

You make a huge difference to what we can achieve. Please take this opportunity to donate your time, energy and / or money and together we can build on our successes and see what's possible for 2012.
