The London Marathon, Sunday, 22nd April 2012

We have 2 guaranteed places in the Virgin London Marathon 2012 are now taking applications.

With more than 35,000 people taking part, the London Marathon is one of the most popular and exciting events in the world. Thousands of spectators line the streets of London every year to support the runners, ensuring an electric atmosphere along the entire route.

This will be the first time OBJECT have had runners in the marathon and we will be there to support our runners both on the day and in the run up to the event.  Being one of only two runners, taking part for such a small organisation our runners will be able to benefit from very personal support, both with training and fundraising.  On the day OBJECT supporters will be cheering our runners on while at the same time raising awareness of our campaigns. 

2012 is the year of the London Olympics.  All eyes will be on London and our sporting events. Unfortunately the London Olympics has already caused a rise in the trafficking of women and girls to East London on behalf of the male labourers working on the Olympic site and it is a sad fact that all aspects of the sex industry are likely to explode in the run up to the event itself.  We will be using the marathon as an awareness tool to make sure the harsh realities of the sex industry don't go un-challenged.

OBJECT's two guaranteed places in the event, will be allocated to successful applicants in return for an initial registration fee of £100 (inclusive of VAT) and a pledge to raise minimum sponsorship of £1,900. Participants can either pay the registration fee themselves, or raise additional sponsor money to cover it.
