Don't let the lap dancing industry weaken our hard won reforms

Thank you for all your wonderful support for OBJECT and the Fawcett Society's campaign to stop lap dancing clubs being licensed like cafes. Thanks to your efforts the Policing and Crime Bill received Royal Assent on Thursday 12th November – meaning it will now be possible to apply greater controls and regulations to lap dancing clubs.

However, there is more to be done as the Home Office is currently consulting on the transitional arrangements for the new licensing regime (download here) and the lap dancing industry is lobbying hard for existing clubs to be given preferential treatment when the new regime is brought in.

It is therefore crucial that as many individuals and organisations as possible respond to this consultation to ensure that the new licensing regime isn’t weakened at this late stage.
